Pastor Mark baptizing Graeme |
Several of our family members came to the church service to witness it. Graeme was so well behaved! He actually slept through the baptism itself and woke up briefly during the sermon. He watched Pastor Mark closely, then started to fuss a bit when the sermon ended. But overall, I was so happy with him. It was really a special time for us as a family. Our church has meant a lot to us, especially since Graeme's birth. Pastor Mark has been wonderful at keeping us in his prayers and checking up on how Graeme's doctor appointments have gone. He has also had an open door to us any time we need to talk or have someone pray with us.
After Graeme's baptism, we went out to lunch with our family members. It was a lot of fun to have everyone together to catch up and the food was great! I think we all had a good time.
Our little family before the baptism |
In other news, Graeme made 14 weeks this past Thursday. He's grown so much! He's starting eating more too...we're up to 4 oz bottles now. He's fitting in 3 month onesies and some 0-3 month tops as long as they are short-sleeves. He's still in NB for pants, although his NB shorts are getting a little too small for him.
We're trying to work on getting him to turn his head more. He's showing a preference for keeping his head turned to the right, so we're focusing on making him turn to the left more so he doesn't develop an inability to turn it. We're also trying to do more tummy time so he can work on his head control, but he really hates it. He usually starts fussing soon after being put on his tummy. So today we tried doing what I like to refer to as "Super Graeme", where we hold him like he's flying. He seemed to like it better and held his head up for awhile before getting fussy.
Super Graeme! |
Hopefully this works! Babies with achondroplasia are usually behind in their motor development due to their larger head size, so I want to make sure we do everything we can to help Graeme strengthen those muscles.
Graeme's been a much happier baby lately too. I think we've finally got a good balance of oatmeal cereal to milk for his bottles in order to improve both his reflux and his gas problems. Sleepwise, he's been doing better again. We're back to a good 6-7 hour sleep session after his last bottle in the evening. Then he sleeps about another 3 hours after that middle of the night feeding. He's enjoying his activity mat and has been grabbing at the toys hanging from it. He also likes hearing different noises and has even done a little bit of a laugh. None of the deep belly laughs yet, but I'm looking forward to that! Hopefully things continue to go well. His 4 month well visit is in a few weeks and then he sees the geneticist again at 6 months. It'll be good to hear how he's progressing.
He does appear to love Super Graeme
