So I'm a bit late on lots of updates! Since my last post, Graeme had his orthopedist appointment, celebrated his first Thanksgiving, and turned 11 months old (a week and a half ago).
This blog is dedicated to our son Graeme Theodore. Graeme was diagnosed with achondroplasia, the most common form of dwarfism, when he was 7 weeks old. Reading the blogs about other achon children was an immense help to me after his diagnosis, and I wanted to contribute our story to help others in the future as well as provide updates for family and friends.

9 Months
Graeme made 9 months on October 8th! We had his 9 month well visit on Monday. He weighed in at 16 lbs, 13 oz, measured 25 inches, and had a head circumference of 50.5 cm. Overall, his growth is tracking well. He also got a flu shot and some routine blood work to check for anemia, and everything looked good!

Dwarfism Awareness Month
It's finally October, and that means Dwarfism Awareness Month! We have learned so much since Graeme was born almost 9 months ago, and we want to share a bit of that knowledge with everyone this month. We'll be posting facts about dwarfism on our Facebook account, and we hope that all of you will read and share in order to raise awareness.

Geneticist Checkup
Graeme had his geneticist checkup this past Friday. We were looking forward to going again, since we hadn't seen her since Graeme's diagnosis at 7 weeks. We were supposed to go back around 6 months, but we couldn't get in until now, when he's about 7 months.

7 Months Old
Graeme turned 7 months old Saturday! He is getting so big! And seriously such a cutie. This past month has been a busy one. Steven and I graduated from LSU with our MLIS degrees this past Friday. So excited to have that chapter finished and move forward in our careers now. We've also been having lots of fun introducing new things to Graeme.

First Food - Banana
Graeme had his first taste of solids over the weekend! I really wanted to do avocados first, but none of them were ripe so we decided to puree some banana instead. And survey says...
Graeme's 1/2 Birthday
I can't believe my little boy is 1/2 a year old already! Another 6 months and he will be a whole year old. It's just amazing how much he had grown and learned in such a short time.
Holiday Catch-Up
I meant to update this a few times since the 5 month post, but there never seems to be enough time in the day. So now I'll make a few posts to catch up. We celebrated Steven's first Father's Day in June and then Graeme's first 4th of July.

Time Flies - 5 Months Already
Graeme turned 5 months old this past Monday. I feel like he is getting so big! He's moved into 3-6 month or 6 month onesies, 3 month separates, and size 2 diapers. We've weathered another cold, but overall he's been a much happier baby lately.

Sleep Study
Last Friday was our scheduled sleep study for Graeme. We had to be at the sleep center for 9 PM, which made his usual sleep schedule difficult. The pediatrician recommended following our usual schedule for Graeme, so we gave him his bottle at 7:30 PM then got him to sleep around 8:00. However, we then had to get him at 8:20, load him into the car, and drive to the sleep center. Luckily, he fell asleep on the way there.

Getting Started
I tried doing a blog once before, but it never worked out. This time around, I'm a little bit more passionate about my topic. You see, my 3 month old son Graeme was diagnosed with achondroplasia when he was 7 weeks old. In my efforts to learn more, I ran across several blogs by moms chronicling the lives of their children with achondroplasia. This has meant more to me than I can express. Getting to see pictures, hear stories, and learn about these kids and how they grow up helped normalize the situation for me and allowed me to adapt to this news. So I've decided to create my own blog to add to the mix in the hopes that it may help someone one day the same way the blogs I read helped me. I guess I'll start by catching up on the past three months...
